Cascais Village is a superb location for some nice holidays surrounded by sandy beaches. With everything at your doorstep, you can choose from endless activities such as surfing, golf, horseback riding or walking. All the time you are seeing the magnificent Atlantic Ocean.
Ten minutes to walk to the Cascais Marina and a further 5 minutes into Cascais centre. In addition, across the road is one of Cascias’ most prestigious coffee shops, frequented by the locals as well as an international supermarket. With TelePizza on your doorstep, you would not have to go far for a “quiet evening in” after a hard days holidaying!
Bicycles can be hired across the road (no charge) and there is a bicycle path which stretches for miles along the beautiful coastline from Cascais to Guincho Beach. Bike stand is just 100m from apartment.
Locally - Cascais Marina is great for good food and atmosphere. Sit among the boats and enjoy the sunset from the top deck. Also try the restaurants along the Guincho Road. Ones that stand out are Furnas do Guincho and Monte Mar (be prepared to pay a small price premium for great service and fantastic views and atmosphere).
Just 15minutes to walk to the popular square, Largo de Camões in the cobble street zone of Cascais, with its abundance of choice when it comes to cafés, restaurants or bars.
The Artisan Fair in Estoril (behind Casino) each July and August offers handicraft and a variety of restaurants serving traditional food.
There is a regular bus service to Guincho Beach, #405. The #403 will get you to Sintra. Another useful route is the #406 from Cascais to Cascais Shopping ( a mall type shopping centre on the outskirts of Cascais Estoril) It stops in Estoril by the beach before returning to Cascais terminus.
Night life includes the Tamariz Night Club which is practically suspended over the beach in Estoril (summertime only) and Jezebels Night Club behind Estoril Casino during the winter months. Alternatively try the club for "the young at heart" (Vangogo) or 70's retro club Rolls Royce, both in Cascais old town. Take in the International Show or Dinner & Show at the Estoril Casino. For the very young or young at heart, take a stroll through the local park (Parque Municipal da Gandarinha) in Cascais. There is an infant playground & mini zoo where you can feed the ducks - or just sit at the local café and read a book whilst the peacocks strut around you. Sit out in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset on the Esplanade Bar in Cascais (Praia da Rainha), whilst enjoying champagne sangria. Or if you're an early riser, catch the auctions in the square where the fishermen sell their daily catch. Market days are Wednesday (full market day) and Saturday, (fresh produce)

Coast / Beach
The nearest beach in the Bay of Cascais is 950m from the property; other beaches on the Cascais / Estoril coast are within easy walking distance 10 to 15 minutes along the promenade. A few mins drive away is the magnificent, spectacular Guincho coastline, with sandy beaches and rocky coves or towards Lisbon is the alternative popular surfing beach of Carcavelos.
Golf
There are 8 excellent golf courses within a 20 min drive from Cascais.
The golf courses of Oitavos, Quinta da Marinha, Quinta da Beloura, Estoril (27 holes) are nearby all within 10 to 15 minutes drive.
Penha Longa (27 holes), Belas, the Lisbon Sports Club are within a 20 to 30 min drive.
Around an hour’s drive are Praia D’El Rey, Ribagolfe I & II, St Estavao, Qtª do Peru, Aroeira I & II, Montado and Troia golf courses.
The Quinta da Marinha Oitavos course, the newest in the region, designed by the famous American architect Arthur Hills, is the first course in Europe and the second in the world to have the Audubon International ‘Certified Signature Sanctuary/Gold’. With excellent views over the Palácio da Pena and Cabo da Roca.
The Atlântico da Penha Longa course has already been the scene of several European Tour competitions. This hilly course offers broad magnificent views over the countryside that surrounds you with the mountains and the sea.
Travel
From Lisbon airport, Cascais is just 27 km (just under 30 mins).
Cheap flights to Lisbon airport available from Monarch, Easyjet, TAP, and British Airways. Or drive up from Faro it's just 2 and a quarter hours.
Bus transfer to Cais do Sodre station in Lisbon then on the train to Cascais.

A car is not essential, as the train station is a 15 minute walk. The train takes you into Lisbon (32 mins) via Estoril, in clean, modern air-conditioned trains - which are not expensive & always on time!
